Indicating Alexander was born in Tryon, NC, as does
https://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=docdebbie71&a... . These trees indicate his parents are Jonathan and Martha Kneeland McIntire of Massachusetts.
the rootsweb tree is wrong Jonathan and Martha never left Massachusetts.

There are two Alexander McIntyres, father and son. The elder by my records was born in Scotland in 1707 and died in NC in 1805, The son was born in NC in1740 and died there in 1818. The younger is my 4xgreat grandfather. My problem is their being in Rutherford, NC. My family records show then in Cumberland County, which is Fayetteville.

I think there are two Alexander McEntire's. I think the first one, who was in Mecklenburg County in 1765 and 1766 probably died before 1790 as his date of birth is listed c1707. The second Alexander McEntire is the one on the 1790 Lincoln County Census and the one who probably died c1818. It is not logical for a man in the 18th century to live 111 years which would be the case if Alexander was born in 1707 and died in 1818; even if he were born c1713, he would be 105 in 1818.= my two cents, would love to prove my lineage to the McEntire's from this area, but a few burned court houses along the way.....We do have a godspeed history that says our ancestor was from Tyron County, born c1797, but proving him to this family has not been successful to date, but I keep researching and looking.
