"(298) Alexander Murray of Priestfield and Melgum, died 1682. Will recorded 22nd July 1687 (Edinburgh). He was served heir to his father 7th May 1672, and sold Priestfield 1677. He married Janet, daughter of James Rocheid of Inverleith.
ARMS recorded in Lyon Office, 1672. - Argent, a hunting horn sable, garnished gules; on a chief wavy azwe three mullets of the first. CREST : A burning lamp proper. MOTTO: "Placeam dum peream." [Plate V., fig. 9.]"
