About Alexander "Sandor" Riesz
See Peter Rohel website at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~prohel/index.html#st -- search MAUTHNER family (which was frequently intermarried with RIESZ)
The 1840 birthdate derived from NFP obit is consistent with his age in HUNGARIAN CENSUS 1848 (via JewishGen.org), living with father Lipot and mother "Laura" in Gyonk, Tolna, HH#1 -- age 8 (Sandor)
The death record for him in Budapest is specific as to time of death (Aug. 18, 1896, 1/2-12H), with the same date/time repeated in the NFP death notice. However the parents' names deviate: record states Adolf Riesz and Johanna Mauthner. Spouse was Paula Lederer (that is correct; and she was deceased). Informant on the death record was Sandor Fleischl, son-in-law of Alexander Riesz, who had been formally connected to the Riesz family for only five years (since marrying Alexander's daughter Vilma in 1891). He had not grown up among the Riesz family in Hungary, but was a Czech from Neuern, employed in Budapest as consul for the Swedish Crown. It appears he got his father-in-law's parents' names wrong when Alexander Riesz died in Budapest. Alexander Riesz's mother Eleonore had died in 1892, but in Vienna.
