According to his son Alexander, Alexander Simpson, here treated, was the second son of a tenant farmer in Aberdeenshire. He is said by him to have been born at New Craig there in 1751, Life and Travels: 1 presumably this is the farm of the same name to the south of Pitmedden in Aberdeenshire. Streetmap UK

Death

First Marriage

Alexander Simpson, here treated, married Emilia MacIntosh on 6 March 1782. She was his first wife. They were married at Dingwall in Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. The marriage record reads as follows: "Mr Alexander Simpson Schoolmaster of Dingwall to Miss Emilia MacIntosh lawful daughter to deceast John MacIntosh of Tornagrain".
