About Alexander Sinclair, 13th Earl of Caithness
Biographical Summary
"Alexander Campbell, succeeded his father as thirteenth Earl. He was born 24 July 1790 at Barrogill Castle ; married, 22 November 1813, at Mortlake, Surrey, Francis Harriet, daughter and co-heir of the Very Rev. William Leigh of Rushall Hall, co. Stafford, Dean of Hereford. This Earl was sometime an officer in the army, and was Lord-Lieutenant of the county of Caithness. He died 24 December 1855 at Edinburgh (Admon. 6 November 1858), leaving by his wife (who predeceased him there on 23 August 1854) two sons :
- James, fourteenth Earl.
- William Leigh Canning, born 1825, died 3 January 1834.
- Alexander Eric George, born 20 May 1827. He served in the 91st Regiment, and died 21 August 1857."
