It is possible that this Alexander Stewart fought at the Battle of Dunbar in 1650.

He became a prisoner of the establishment and was deported to the colonies in Massachusetts Bay sailing aboard the Unity.

Disproved origins

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/4:1:93JG-VPV

NOT FROM THE STEWART FAMILY OF APPIN and INVERNHAYLE.

See in Memories THE "STEWART/STUART Y DNA STUDY" at FamilyTreeDNA that genetically and biologically refutes that Alexander Stewart of Charlestown and Marlborough has any relationship to the Stewarts of Appin or to Duncan Stewart of MA.

And it shows that in spite of all the errors online, biologically and genetically Dr. John Stewart is no relation to Alexander and is not the same person as Alexander's son John that people are mixing up their data.

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/memories/93JG-VPV.

These above mentioned errors being perpetuated on websites never had any basis in fact so far as each of these different, unrelated individuals' historical records are concerned.

It is a disservice to Alexander to use the speculations plural. By serious standards of genealogical proof, no proof of parents, birthplace or birthdate is provable from Alexander's records. If all the parents and birthdates that had been attached had been left, he could have had at least 10 different sets of parents and birthdates—based on whoever's speculations. NO American record proves his parents. NO Scotland record proves his parents and lots of people had his name. Let's use high standards of genealogical proof rather than all the speculation. Thee University of Durham is doing a scholarly DNA study of Stewarts in Scotland and Scottish prisoners of war because there is no proof of parents for most of the Scottish prisoners of war who ended up in Massachusetts. There going to a lot of unnecessary effort if all this stuff online had been proven which it has not. The sources posted here were making a 3 different person "Scottish" identity based on similar names but not based on historical fact which shows the differences. Until proof is realized by scholarly research, let's let him be who he was, Alexander Stewart, tailor of Charlestown and Marlborough and use only his proven sources.
