From "Descendants of Robert Weir and Elizabeth Green of Old Cambridge - White Creek Washington County, New York" compiled by Jane C. Whitaker...
Dora Wilson and Alex Weir Jr. were married in Wells, VT. After their wedding Dora and Alex lived on the home farm, near East Greenwich, with his parents. This is where their children were born in 1889, 1892, and 1894 respectively. Around the turn of the century they were living in the Village of Greenwich on Corliss Avenue, where he operated a neighborhood grocery store.
The estate of Alex Weir Jr. was settled in 1901 after the death of Pamelia, and the three surviving children, Lillian, Fred L., and Alex Jr. were each left an undivided one third part. On 30 July 1901, Lillian and Alex signed over their 2/3 shares to Fred and Ella for $1500. (Liber 131, page 62). After Fred's death in 1925, Ella conveyed the property to Alex and Dora for one dollar (Liber 187, page 510). I wonder why the widow, Ella, sold her interest in Fred's estate; she had life use of both real and personal property for as long as she remained his widow (per Fred L. Weird's Will). There is a legal document on file, dated 20 Sept. 1935, when the title of this same property, lots 51 and 52 of the Scotch Patent, was transferred to Alex Weir's widow Dora (Weir) Ferguson (Liber 218, page 574).
Alex, Dora, and son, Wilson, moved to Goose Island, Town of Argyle in 1917. Wilson W. Weir purchased a 97-are farm on North Street Road (Liber 166-384). Their next change of address was in 1920, when they returned to East Greenwich. There Alexander had a small village grocery store until he retired.
When they lived in Greenwich, Dora's grandmother, Ann Eliza (Fowler) (Wilson) (Delavarnge) More, lived with them. For taking care of the grandmother during her last several years, Ann Eliza bequeathed to Dora property on the Vermont-New York border between Salem and Sandgate. Grandmother Ann Eliza More died in 1906.
Alex died at their home in East Greenwich of arteriosclerosis. Dora died in the Cambridge Hospital after suffering a heart attack a few days prior.
Dora married Levinus Ferguson as her second husband, on 3 May 1934. Vinnie died in 1943. Alex and Dora are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in the More lot, beside her grandmother.
