About Alexandre Mikhaïlovitch Bezobrazov
Alexandre Mikhaïlovitch Bezobrazov (1853-1931), has appeared briefly in history books due to his involvement in Russian activities in the Far East before the Russo-Japonese War, a chapter that has yet to be written and about which little information is available.
~~~Surnommé par sa famille "Diadia Pouchka", car il avait inventé un canon, lequel s'est avéré inefficace et ne fonctionnait pas...
Bezobrazov, Aleksandr Mikhailovich (13.IX.1853+9.X.1931). General Bezobrazov's older brother. Educated in the Corps of Pages, promoted to the Chevalier Gardes Regiment (1873), enscribed in the Guard Cavalry Reserve (1883), freed from the Reserve (1885), official attached to the Main Administration of Eastern Siberia (1886~1888), retired from the Service as a serving Coucillor of State (1898), sent to an Imperial Mission to Port Arthur (1902~1903), appointed a State Secretary of His Majesty (1903), sent again to Port Arthur (1903), Member of the Special Committee for the Far East (1903), appointed Senator (1903), retired finally from the Service as a Serving Privy Coucillor (1905). Left Russia after the Revolution and died in France.
It is unfortunate that the facts surrounding Russian involvement in the Far East before the Russo~Japanese War have never clarified for it is one of the important occurrences of the last reign. Bezobrazov was one of the Directors of the Company holding timber concessions along the Yalu River in Korea. He was appointed personally by the Emperor Nicholas II in 1902 to investigate the badly administered concessions. Sworn to secrecy, he was unable to defend himself against the criticism directed at him for what soon came to be seen - in Russia and elsewhere - as the root cause the Russo~Japanese War.
