Alexis was living in Acadia with parents Antoine II and Marie Blanche Leblanc before the Great Upheaval of 1755. His parents were deported by boat to Boston but he escaped with his family through New Brunswick to Kamouraska, Quebec. According to Suprenant, "he is considered by Kamouraska as one of the pioneers of the region.
