About Alice Cannon
My grandmother raised eight children. She and her husband built their Sugarhouse home and then rented it out during the Depression. They lived in a small shack built in the next door gully with their then five children. She was a wonderful woman; kind and loving. At Halloween she would let down her long silver hair (which was always kept in a wound braid), then she would take off the bottom portion of her artificial leg and tell us scary stories. She lost her husband when they were traveling in central Utah. Their car broke down. It was winter. John passed on during the night. She walked until she found a cabin, melted snow for water, and ate some jam she found in the cupboard. She wrote a note, sat down, and waited for rescue. They found her two or three days later in the cabin. She lived another 14 years and died the night of her 95th birthday party. An incredible woman with an enormous legacy. Now she is finally dancing with her husband.
