When I was very young, she would babysit for me and my brothers.
I remember one night when I was in the7th grade and she and her girlfriend, Delores Clarke, tried to teach me the "heel and toe" method of jitterbugging.
Whenever one of her dates would come to the house (at times we all lived together at 9327 Aberdeen St.) all of us would have to move to the kitchen or outside to give them privacy.
I recall going for a drive with her and a date. I sat on the date's lap and steered the car.
She was a telephone operator. She was always reading romance novels. One year she took me to a Fannie Mae candy outlet and we loaded up on Easter candy. Afterward, we went to a friend's apartment where the friend's boyfriend looked at my teeth....he was studying to become a dentist. I was glad to leave.
When Jim Clancy came on the scene, my dad and Al Goerling were pushed to the back of the line on Grandma Mulligan's favorite list.
I actually served as an altar boy at her wedding to Jim Clancy.
My son, William Clancy Presler, was named in honor of her husband Jim.
