Alice Davis Porter Wightman

Oct. 18-19, 1934 (Thursday and Friday) Middletown High School (Connecticut) presented "Loose Change," a John B. Rogers Production, Jack Kress, Director, in its auditorium. Alice Davis Porter (Wightman) played the part of Lena, a scrub lady. One of Lena's musical numbers was Reprisal-Patch O'Blue. Seven altogether sang(?) the number. That the year of the production was 1934 needs to be verified.

June 1935-- Alice Davis Porter (Wightman) graduates from Middletown High School, Middletown, Connecticut. On June 19, 1935, she gave the "mock valedictory" at the 1935 Class Night Exercises, a pre-graduation event that was held in the High School Auditorium. The "mock valedictory." had been composed jointly by Alice and a one Ruth Spencer, Vice-President of the Class of 1935..

June 27, 1935--Alice Davis Porter (Wightman) keeps her cousin, Winifred Lucile Porter (Rounds), company. In a letter to her brother, date June 28, 1935, Winifred references Alice's visit: "Mother and Dad went on a trip yesterday and Pussy [i.e, Alice] spent the day with me."

Sept. 1, 1936 (Tuesday evening) Alice Davis Porter (Wightman), then residing unmarried in Higganum, Connecticut with her parents, is visited by her two cousins, Philip Wells Porter, Jr., age 17, and his younger sister, Winifred Porter (Rounds), both cousins residing at the time in 8 Landing Road, Higganum with their parents.

April 15, 1937 (Thursday) Alice is home from college having contracted measles.

Alice Davis Porter Wightman served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the Yale Unit of the 39th General Hospital in the South Pacific for three years. She served at hospitals in New Zealand, New Caledonia, and Saipan.
