"As Yip's son, Ernie, related in 2010, "Yip and my mother, Alice Richmond, split up in 1932. She simply disappeared. Since Yip was 24/7 doing Broadway shows that year, he left my sister, Marge, and me, in the care of his beloved sister Anna, and her husband Phil, who had five other children. In 1934, Yip and Alice were divorced."
