To all to whome these presents shall come I JOHN HUGHLETT of the County abovesd: in the Collony of Virginia send Greeting in our Lord God everlasting; Whereas JOHN HAYNIE of the ad: County & my selfe did make choyce of a certaine p:cell of land bounded on the lands of Coll. JNO: MOTTROM deced., &of the sd. HAYNIE, my owne & THOMAS SALISBURYs, EATONs & YARRETTs, the Branches of CHICKACONE & WICOCOMOCO RIVER & the main. woods; which sd: tract of land (as by our mutual' consents for reasons to our selves best knowne) was Pattented in my name by the sd. Pattent bearing date the 3d. day of June 1663; may appear., And Whereas the sd: HAYNIE by contributing an equal! pte: of the charges of Pattenting the sd. Land hath an indisputable right to the one half. thereof; Therefore Knowe yee that I the sd: JOHN HUGHLETT doe bind my selfe & my heires to acknowledge the one halfe of all the sd: tract of land unto the sd: JOHN HAYNIE & his heires for ever at any time upon demand either within six months after the date hereof or at any other time afterwards any Law or Laws made or to be made onto the contrary notwithstanding; And doe further likewise bind & oblige my selfe & my heires &c., that my nowe Wife, ALICE HUGHLETT, shall alsoe renounce her claime & interest of Dower unto the ed. HUGHLETT on ye South side of a small Branch runninge out of a maine Branch of WICOCOMOCO RIVER commonly called HEN: WICKERS BRANCH, runninge alonge before ye House of ye sd: HUGHLETT to ye highest Branch nearest the Horse Path. . & soe alonge to his the sd: HUGHLETTs line, with sd: land I ye sd: HUGHLETT doe by these pr:sents sell unto ye sd: JOHN GIBSON & to his heyres & assignes for ever wth: all priviledges thereto belonginge as is granted to me by Pattent beinge pte: of 400 acres of land conteyned in ye whole Pattent, he ye sd.
