Alice Lurene Johnson

Mrs. Lurene P. Johnson, 83, Sheffield, Ala., passed away Monday, June 18, 2001. She was born in Sheffield, Ala., on March 3, 1918, to Glover and Nannie P. Pennington.She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hildreth A. Johnson; brothers, Alvin and Glover Pennington Jr.; and sister, Inez P. Sibley. She is survived by a son, William G. She served as secretary to the Aluminum Workers Union for 38 years, retiring in 1984, and was a member of many womens professional organizations. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Sheffield. Arrangements are being handled by Spry-Serenity Chapel Funeral Home, Sheffield, Ala. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, followed by the service in Spry-Serenity Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, Ala.
