About Alice May Osborn
Stratford, Iowa - Mrs. Alice May Osborn, 75, died Tuesday morning at the home of her son, Fred Osborn, near Dayton, following an illness of five weeks. Death was caused by a stroke. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the McGuire Bend church, preceded by a brief service at one o'clock at the home. Burial will be in Vegors cemetery, the Rev. Elmer Heck of Lehigh officiating and Fosters in charge.
Mrs. Osborn, the former Alice May Young, was born May 28, 1867, at Spirit Lake, the daughter of John and Malinda Young. As a girl she moved with her parents to the home place northwest of Stratford, where she attended the schools and grew to young womanhood. In 1883 she was married to Frank Osborn and the young couple located on a farm in the Stratford community where they had lived since that time. Mrs. Osborn was preceded in death by her husband, who died January, 1938, and one daughter, who died in infancy.
Surviving are her son, Fred of Dayton, a daughter, Mrs. R. P. Harrah of Boone, nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. One brother, Will Young, lives in Oklahoma, and another, John Young in California. Mrs. Osborn was baptized in the Christian faith and attended the church in Webster City for a number of years.
