He [William le Latimer] married, about 1268 Alice, elder daughter and coheir of Walter LEDET (e), by Ermentrude [? DE LISLE]. With her he had a great inheritance in Northants, including Corby, as also in Beds. He died 5 December 1304, and was buried at Helpringham, co. Lincoln. His executors had respite of debts 20 May 1305. His widow sent the service of a fourth part of a knight's fee in 1306. In 1316 she held part of Sutton, Beds, and all the hundred and town of Corby Northants. She appears in various pleas from 1306 onwards. She died before 8 March 1316/7, when enquiry was made as to a claim by her son Nicholas le Latimer that her manor of Sutton, Beds, and lands in Potton, &c., should descend to him. Alice was the daughter of Walter de Ledet and Ermentrude de Lisle. She married William III le Latimer about 1268. Alice and William had at least four children: William 2nd Lord Latimer of Corby Nicholas Joan Christian

27 Nov 1308, Westminster [Commission of oyer and terminer] to B. de Heghham, J. de Mutford and B. de Betford, on cornplaint by Robert de Wauton, one of the constables of the peace in the county of Bedford, that Alice, late the wife of William le Latimer, Joan Comyn, William de Helpiyugham, John de Cameston, Geoffrey Orgar, Geoffrey le Warner of Sutton, Michael atte Grene of that place, John Legat', Thomas le Keu, Boger Alicessquier and Richard le Palefrayman, with many others, besieged him in his dwelling at Eton Beaucharnp, neither suffering him to go forth from it, nor to discharge his duties as a conservator of the peace, felled his trees and fences, threw them and the hay found in his meadows into the river Use, assaulted Henry Goldyng' and Peter Berteiot, servants appointed by him to guard the hay, and also other servants of his sent to cut his corn.

II, vol. 1, pp. 46, 125 Order to examine the rolls and memoranda of the exchequer concerning payments made to the king, his father and his grandfather, by those who held the manor of Corby after it was taken into the hands of Henry III. by virtue of his order, dated September 26, in the 25th year of his reign, to take into his hands all the lands that belonged to Wychard Ledet, he having afterwards, on October 25, in the same year, ordered the sheriff of Northampton to deliver the manor to Mary, late the wife of the said Wychard, upon her finding security for 10l. for the relief of Walter his son and heir, because it was found that the manor, which was taken into the king's hands on account of Wychard's death was held of the king in socage; and afterwards, on February 8, in the 41st year of his reign, he restored the custody of the manor to Ermentrude, late the wife of the said Walter, then deceased, because it appeared that the manor was held of the king at fee-farm and not by knight service, to hold during the minority of Walter's heir, and he ordered the queen of England to cause Ermentrude to have full seisin thereof; it being now shewn to the king by Alice, daughter and heiress of the said Walter, whom William le Latymer, lately deceased, married, that the treasurer and barons unduly charge her with 340l. 16s. 2½d. of the arrears of tlie yearly ferm of 100s. of the said manor from the aforesaid September 20, although all the goods and chattels of her husband were taken into the late king's hands for debts due to him and were delivered by the then treasurer and barons of the exchequer on mainprize to answer to the exchequer for the said debts. They are not to charge her for the time when the manor was in the hands of the king's grandfather or of others.

Calendar of Close Rolls, 7 Edw. II, Membrane 24, p. 14 William le Latymer, her son, aged 40 and more, is her next heir. Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Nicholas le Latymer that the escheator had ejected him from the manor of Sutton, and the hamlets of Potton, Holm and Stratton, which he entered upon after the death of the said Alice by virtue of a feoffment made by John de Kynardeseye, clerk, 14 Mar., 10 Edw. II.

Bedford. Inq. 6 Apr., 10 Edw. II. Sutton. The manor, with the hamlets of Potton, Holm and Stratton, was held for life, by the gift of John de Kynardeseye, clerk, with the king's licence, of the king in chief as of the honour of Huntingdon, now in the king's hand by the forfeiture of Robert de Brus, by service of ½ knight's fee, with remainder to the same Nicholas and the heirs of his body, and further remainder to Thomas, earl of Lancaster, and his heirs.
