Allen Orrin Skaggs

In the 1900 U.S. Federal Census for Pitman, Montgomery County, Illinois, Allen Orrin Skags was 19 years old and living with his parents and siblings, who were listed as follows in the census record: Andrew, 53, Laura J., 47, Orrin A., 19, Daisy A., 23, Laura A., 16, and Sarah E., 8. Andrew and Laura had been married for 28 years, and had given birth to eight children, seven of whom were still living. All of the family members were born in Illinois, both of Andrews parents were born in Kentucky, Laura's father was born in Tennessee, and her mother in Illinois. Andrew was working as a farmer, owned his own farm, but had a mortgage on the farm.

Living next door was Laura's brother, (Stephen) Thomas Eubank, 49, his wife, Luella, 44, and their children, Gertrude S., 17, Madolan R., 15, Lorin T., 11, and Jennie, 9, and their son William, 21, was living next door with his wife Myra L., 21, and their daughter Ravena, who was one year old. Stephen Thomas Eubank was working as a Master Car Builder for the railroad, and he owned his own home free from a mortgage. William was working as a farmer and was renting his farm. Stephen Thomas Eubank and his wife, Luella, had been married for 25 years, had given birth to seven children, five of whom were still living. William and his wife, Myra, had been married for three years and had given birth to one child, their daughter Ravena.

I'm not sure when Allen Orrin Skaggs married, but his wife was Cora King. She was born March 3, 1881, and passed away March 24, 1965.

When Allen Orrin Skaggs completed his U.S. World War I Draft Registration Card on September 12, 1918, in Sycamore, DeKalb, Illinois, he was 37 years old, having been born April 5, 1881, he described himself as being tall with a medium build, brown eyes and black hair. He was living at 230 W. Locust Street, in DeKalb, Illinois, and was working as the general manager of the Tir-O-Fix Company, which was located at 162 West Lincoln Highway in DeKalb, Illinois. He listed his wife, Cora I. Skaggs as the person who was his nearest relative.

Allen Orrin Skags passed away August 25, 1945, while living in Duval, Florida, but he was buried in the Providence Cemetery in Waggoner, Montgomery County, Illinois, with his wife, Cora. I don't know if they ever had any children.
