She took pride in living in the former Memorial Hospital, and hearing the history and stories that surrounded it.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Cole, Sandusky; four sons, Danny Gabel, and his wife, Tammy, Mayetta, Kan., Tommy Gabel, and his wife, Kelli, Topeka, and Michael and Jeff Christiansen, both of Sandusky; a stepson, Greg Christiansen, Kansas City, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Carolyn Osburn, and her husband, Ray, Monroeville, Ohio, and Patricia Cesa, Mary Sorrell, and her husband, Steven, and Rachel Jane Harmon, and her husband, Derrick, all of Sandusky; two brothers, Charles Burkhart, and his wife, Hazel, Toledo, Ohio, and Danny Burkhart, and his wife, Pat, Crystal Rock, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger D. Christiansen, on Jan. 15, 2002; a daughter, Mary Lou, in infancy; her parents, John C. and Minnie Gregory Burkhart; two grandsons, Timothy Gabel, in 2001, and Briar Gabel in infancy; two sisters, Sandra Burkhart and Edith Shellhammer; and a son-in-law, Jim Cole.
