About Alma Orpha Channell
She was a faithful member of the Valley Head United Methodist Church where she held many positions. She held the position of Treasurer for Mingo United Methodist Charge for over 55 years.
During that time she served under eighteen ministers who never missed a pay day because of her financial management. Her greatest love was playing the piano for the church choir and being a member of a quartet with Rev. Eddie Kyle, Benny Kyle, Frank Hoover and Urana Corley.
She was a self-taught musician. She also was a cook for the Valley Head Elementary School. She had many fond memories of all the children who passed through the line to sample her good cooking.
