Publication: Barnstable Patriot; Date: Apr 17, 1888; Section: None; Page: 3 to be continued South Dennis Again we are called to mourn the death of one of our aged and loved old ladies,Almira, wife of Capt Miller W Nickerson. For many weeks she has been sick, yet hopes were entertained of her recovery until Thursday morning, when she quietly fell in death's slumber to awake in that beautiful home not made by hands and where peace and beauty with love reigneth, evermore, heaven, the home of the good like our beloved sisters. She had lived to that ripe old age of 83 years and was ready for the master's call.At the age of 23 years she was married to her husband,he then 26 years, and for 60 years they have lived a quiet happy life, possessing the love of all friends by their devotion to each other. She was an active woman always ready to help him in all the toils of life with a cheerful, loving heart and how sadly he will miss this beloved partner in the few years that may be spared him among us-her cheerful smile and encouraging words of comfort, which she was so able to give. She leaves one son T T M Nickerson,Esq., and three daughters to mourn the loss of the mother they so fondly treasured here on earth;but none will miss her like the aged father in the going down in life. But comfort ye all-she has only gone before to welcome you all again in the heavenly home, where the reunion of souls are once more made perfect.Funeral was on Friday at 4 p m . Rev Mr Cutting of Harwich Centre, preached the service in a touching , heartfelt manner, thus speaking to all hearts present to the truth and beauty of his language. Her granddaughter,Miss Louisa Munsell, read some very beautiful lines dedicated to the worth of her aged grandmother from early life until death's summons-they were so expressive of all the goodness of the departed loved one and so appropriate to the service. There was no singing and as the sun was about to set they laid her in the last earthly resting place, the grave.
