Publication: Barnstable Patriot; Date: Jun 23, 1891; Section: None; Page: 3 Death of Miller W Nickerson We have received a brief announcememt of the death, at his home in South Dennis on the 17th inst.,of Miller W Nickerson Esq.,at the age of 89 years.For years Capt Nickerson was one of the best known men on the Cape, especially with temperance workers; but ill health in the last few years has confined him pretty closely at home.He was Deputy Collector of Customs at South Dennis during the earlier administrations of Major Phinney as Collector, and has held many other places of trust.He was a man of unswerving integrity,strong in his likes and dislikes and fearless and outspoken in defending that which he considered right

Nickerson followed the sea until he had amassed enough to live comfort, and at ease at home.He was possessed of a great business capacity and was generally consulted by all when in trouble.He leaves one son and three daughters to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father.
