About Alonzo Russell, III
Alonzo Russell is a Bahamian sprinter specialising in the 400 metres. He represented his country at the 2015 World Championships and 2016 World Indoor Championships, and will be competing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
His personal bests in the event are 45.25 seconds outdoors (Nassau, BAAA Nationals 2016) and 46.44 seconds indoors (Albuquerque 2014).
He attended Essex County College and Florida State University, where he competed as a student-athlete. A stellar student, he became the first sprinter in FSU program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. A sociology major, he also earned All-ACC Academic honors three times and won the Golden Torch award for top GPA on FSU's track team.
