Aloysius Elder was the youngest of William & Jacoba Clementina Elders children. He lived his entire life on the Elder Homestead. He married Elizabeth Mills, daughter of Justinian Mills and Mary Dant of St. Mary's County. They had 9 children; Nancy, Joachim, Jessie, Mary, Elizabeth, Sophia,Clotilda, Lewis and Justinian Elder. On the death of Elizabeth he married Mary Josephine Green, daughter of Philip Green and Ann Yates. They had 5 children; Ann, Sophia Ann, William Pius, Mary Phillipi and Ann Rosetta Elder. Aloysius and his mother, deeded the land for Mt. St. Mary's College and Seminary, except for the land plot that was used as the Elder Cemetery, at the rwequest of Rev. John Carroll - first Bishop of the United States.
