About Jacoba Clementina Elder
Find a Grave ID #7711862
From http://www.emmitsburg.net/archive_list/articles/people_articles/wil... "Arnold Livers was an Englishman by birth and had been an active and noted partisan of James II. Upon the collapse of that monarch’s cause, Mr. Livers had been obliged to flee from his native land and became the proprietor of a large estate in Maryland, called "Arnold’s Delight," on Owing’s Creek. It is said of Arnold Livers, in explanation of the singular name given by him to his daughter, that he had registered a vow that his first child, whether a boy or a girl, should, be called James. The good priest to whom the child was presented for baptism found no difficulty in complying with the father’s wishes and so the babe was christened Jacoba Clementina. Livers in his flight from England carried this child with him." It seems like Jacoba was born considerably after his flight from England, so it's unlikely that he carried her with him across to America.
Timberly Plantation, which is no longer standing, is mentioned here: http://mht.maryland.gov/nr/NRDetail.aspx?NRID=1002
William waited until 1742 before marrying his second wife, Jacoba Clementina Livers. She was a daughter of Arnold and Helena (Gordon) Livers, and had been raised in the same area of Prince Georges County as William. In addition to raising the five children of William and Ann, she also brought seven more children into the world. Jacoba died 19 Sep 1807.
William Elder and both of his wives are buried in the Elder Family Cemetery [also called "The Elder Burying Grounds"], just a few miles south of the town of Emmitsburg. In recent years the descendants of this family purchased and placed new headstones for William and his wives and the original stones now rest outside the Mount St. Mary's Archive Library, in Emmitsburg.
