About Alphonsus F. Gallagher
Alphonsus attended school in Eckley an Highland Village in Luzerne County PA, and he worked in a breaker as young boy. By the time he was 18 years old, he grew a beard and went to Philadelphia to work as a conductor on the street car; the age limit was 21, but the beard disguised his age.
He attended Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh and Pratt Institute in New York.
He retired from Continental Can Company of Ammerica and lived in St. Petersburg, FL and remained there until he became quite ill and he returned to Pittsburgh where most of his family was still living, until he passed away.
