Alton H. Isbell, 86, of Ulster RR 2, Ulster Twp., Pa., passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

Born Aug. 8, 1921 in Burlington Twp., Pa., he was the son of the late Leslie Isbell and Floy Hoffman Isbell. In early years, Alton attended the Luthers Mills School and later went to work on his father's farm. On Nov. 12, 1941, he marred the former Lucille E. Atwood. Alton owned and operated his dairy farm in Ulster Twp. for 57 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Luthers Mills United Methodist Church and the Norther Tier Tractor Association.

Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Lucille E. Isbell, at home; children, Barbara Bailey and her husband Russell Bailey of Towanda RR 3, Pa., Phyllis Otis and her husband Gary Otis of Wyalusing RR 1, Pa., Janet Astare and her husband Ed Astare of Monroeton, Pa., Sue Adams of Milan, Pa. and her friend Joe Regan, Richard Isbell and his wife Mary Isbell of Ulster RR 2, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; brothers, Clifford Isbell of Ulster RR 2, Pa., Clarence Isbell and his wife Aileen of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa., Alfred Isbell and his wife Eleanor of Rome, Pa.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his faithful canine companion, Rudy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: sisters, Blanche Sheridan and Elizabeth Finnerty and by brothers, Floyd and James Isbell, son-in-law, Gregg Adams, sisters-in-law, Bertha Isbell and Louis J. Isbell.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Mr. Brett Benjamin officiating.

Interment will be in the Ulster Cemetery, Ulster, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to the Luthers Mills United Methodist Church, in care of Kathy Wolstenholme RR 1 Box 277 B, Towanda, Pa. 18848, or to the charity or organization of ones choice in Alton's memory.
