Funeral services for Alvin Short, 72, of Cookeville, will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 beginning at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Clouse Seminary Cemetery in Board Valley, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5-8 p.m.

Mr. Short passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville.

Mr. Short was born Dec. 10, 1941 in Putnam County, Tennessee, the son of the late Ulis Alvin Short and Linnie (Hood) Short.

Mr. Short owned and operated Short Cab Company in Cookeville for 10 years and owned Corner Laundry in Cookeville at the time of his death.

His family includes his wife, Nancy Flanigan of Cookeville; two daughters, Trisha Thacker of Bristol and Amber Key of Cookeville; a son, A.J. Short of Cookeville; a brother, Calvin Short of Cookeville; four sisters, Helen, Pansy, Geraldine, and Ruth; and 13 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
