Alvira Hankins died at her home with her daughter Mrs. John Freshour Monday, May 29, aged 85 years. Alvira McDaniels was born in Kentucky April 1, 1814. When she was two years old her parents moved to Ohio, where August 28, 1832, she was married to Daniel Hankins. In 1848 they moved to Cass County, Michigan. Her husband died August 20, 1895 at the age of 80 years. She has resided in Decatur one year. She was the mother of 10 children, 7 of whom survive her. She also leaves 28 grand children, 31 great grand children, and 1 great, great-grand child. The funeral was held at her late home Wednesday morning. Rev. C. D. Paige officiating. The pall bearers were all her grandsons. Interment was in Dowagiac cemetery.
