About Alyda Wiersma
Alyda Wiersma, 89, of Orange City, died Saturday, February 14, in a nursing home in Orange City.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Ralph Pontier officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.
The deceased, the former Alyda Kosters, was born December 8, 1897, in Sioux Center. She married Pier Wiersma February 7, 1921, at Sioux Center. The couple farmed at Alton, Maurice, and Orange City before moving into Orange City about 1945. In 1986 she became a resident of the Orange City Municipal Nursing Home.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and Thy Kingdom Come Society of the church. She also was a member of the Ladies' Zangkoor.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Sarah Ann "Dolly" Reinsma, Wilma Foreman and Helen Huizanga, all of Orange City, and Darlene White of San Diego, California; a son, Kenneth of Redlands, California; a sister, Minnie Vander Wilt of Orange City; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
