Amanda Skagen, a daughter of Albert and Gina (Ferstad) Carlson, was born on April 12, 1920 at Eidsvold Township in Bottineau County.
She was reared there and attended country school in the area. In 1951, she married Arthur Skagen at Mouse River Church near Landa, North Dakota. They lived in Bottineau before moving to the Skagen family farm near Landa, North Dakota. They later moved to Westhope, North Dakota. Amanda worked as a cook for the Westhope Schools for 20 years and babysat for many families in Westhope, North Dakota.
Arthur passed away on February 2, 1971. She later moved to Bottineau, North Dakota where she has resided since.
She was a lifetime member of the Mouse River Church near Landa, North Dakota.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Irene Opdahl of Bottineau, North Dakota and Gladys Carlson of Birmingham, Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother.
