Born 1750 in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County, New Jersey and died on Mar. 28, 1793.

Amariah Harris was born in 1750, the fifth and youngest son of Thomas and Sarah (Dayton) Harris of Fairfield Township, Cumberland County. He died there on March 28, 1793 in his 43rd year, and was buried in the Presbyterian "Old Stone" Churchyard, with a gravestone marker.

He married Mary Lawrence, who was born in April, 1756, the daughter of Jonathan and Aibigail (Ogden) Lawrence of Fairfield, and she died on March 22, 1815 aged 58yrs 11 mo.

Amariah served as a Lieutenant of the Cumberland County Militia during the War for Independence. The children of Amariah and Mary include:

1. Mary, m. Isaac Alderman on Nov 27, 1805
2. Lydia, m Jonathan Sheppard on Jan. 16, 1798
3. James, b. March 1781 and died Dec 15, 1805. He drowned in the Delaware River
4. George, b. Dec 1784 and died Nov. 19, 1835. He also drowned
5. Violetta, b.Feb 28, 1796 and died Sept. 19, 1818. She married Ebenezer Westcott
6. Bathsheba
