In the name of God Amen the ffourteenth day of March Anno Domini 1639 and in the ffifteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles by the grace of God King of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland Defender of the Faith. I, Ambrose Dadson of Maidstone in the Countie of Kent, husbandman, being sick in body but in sound mind and Memorie, I pray for God therefore doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme.

Following that is to say;

ffirst and principally, I commend my soule to Almighty God my Creator through the meritts, death and passion of his sonne Jesus Christ, my only Saviour and redeemer, and my body to the earth to bee buried by the direction of my Executors hereafter named.

Item I doo give, will and bequeath to my Sonne in Law John Effeild and to my grandchildren Ambrose Effeild and John Effeild and to my Sonne in Law henry Dowd and my daughter Elizabeth the wife of the said henry and to my grandchildren Elizabeth Dowd and Mary Dowd twelve pence a peece to each of them of lawfull English money.

The Residue of all and singular my goods and chattels whatsoever not afore herein bequeathed, my debts legacies and funerall expenses being satisfied and payd, I doo give will and bequeath to my Wellbeloved Wife Ellen Dadson and to my sonne William Dadson to be equally divided between them. And I do make name and appoint the said Ellen Dadson and William Dadson Executors of this my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale and published and declared this to bee my last will and testament in the presence of viz: Samuel Dubell: Clement Jones: Thomas Jones his marke: Ambrose Dadson his marke:
