About Ambrose Bernard Gilbert

Ambrose was an iron moulder in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada and owned a small store there. He was married twice. His first wife was Emily Greenwood of Stanstead Plains. They were married on July 31, 1851. Together they had 10 children. Six were still living on January 10, 1921, Emily died in 1870. Ambrose married his second wife, Lucy Haines on January 10, 1871 and they had 11 children of which 6 were alive on January 10, 1921. On January 10, 1921 was significant in the life of Ambrose. It was then that he celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary to Lucy and all his children attended the celebration. Ambrose died the next year at age 88. Lucy was 70 years old in 1921 and went on to live until 1937 when she died at age 86, as well. In all Ambrose had 21 children, 65 grandchildren, and 149 great grandchildren as of January 11, 1921. Ambrose neither smoked nor drank and was said to be fair skinned with snowy white hair.
