About Ambrose Judd

The Daily Journal Syracuse, New York Official Paper of the City Monday Evening. October 29, 1860 Judd—In Marcellus, October 23d, Ambrose Judd, aged 77 years Mr. Judd was born in Goshen, Conn., and spent several years in Waterbury, in the same State. He subsequently settled in, Cornwall, VT. From that place he removed to the town of Onondaga, where he remained, a number of years, and in 1836 or 1837 he removed to Marcellus, where be ended his days. Mr. Judd was a man of industry and energy in business, and was prosperous in his undertakings. Several years since, he was severely injured by being thrown from his carriage ; and more recently, nearly-disabled by repeated attacks of paralysis—his death was sudden and from the same cause. In the various relations of life he acted well his part. He was a kind and faithful husband, an affectionate father, and was greatly loved by his family and friends. He was upright in his business transactions, and was highly esteemed by those acquainted with him. About fifty years ago he made a profession of religion, in connection with the Congregational Church in Cornwall, Vt. He was an important member of the Church at Onondaga Hill, and in I837 he transferred his relation to the Church of Marcellus. Wherever he lived, he adored his profession. As a Christian he was steadfast and uniform, manifesting a readiness to meet his responsibilities. He loved the house of God, and was seldom absent, until prevented by physical infirmities. He loved the meetings of the Church, and it was a trial to him that for some years his speech was so impaired that his voice could no longer be heard in prayer for the prosperity of Zion—for the salvation of his souls. His death was sudden, but not unexpected.
