From "The Vincent Family, Third Edition (1998):
"Ambrose Vincent died between 18 Feb 1805 when he wrote his will and 26 October 1809 when it was probated. [Except someone from findagrave.com said he died 23 jul 1812 - from the tombstone.] He and his wife and many family members are buried in the Wager Cemetery in Ghent, NY. The earliest grave in the cemetery is dated 1801 for Barant Wager and the oldest Vincent grave is dated 10- Aug 1803 for Mr. Michl VIncent. Ambrose's grave is marked: "In Memory of Mr. Ambrose Vincent who departed this life in the 83rd year of his life". Wager Cemetery is ocated behind a farm on Water Street referred to as "The Elephant Farm". One has to follow an abandoned road just south of the farm to reach the cemetery. In 1993, the cemetery was very much overgrown and many of the stones were broken and toppled. In recent years the Town of Ghent has been taking better care of the cemetery maintenance.
"Ambrose Vincent is found on the Beekman, Dutchess County tax lists between 1753 and 1771. By 1779, he is a taxpayer in the Claverack District of ALbany (later Columbia) County. An old account book, a manuscript at the Columbia County HIstorical Society, marked the C"Claverack Account Book' with accounts dating from 1774 to 1782 has several references to Ambrose Vincent: in 1775 and 1776, he bought gimp; in July 1776, he was paid for 1 days work cradling wheeat, in August 1776 and 1777, he was paid for mowing grass. In a history book describing the children of Ambrose Vincent in Quebec, there is a statement that "Ambrose Vincent was given a grant of land (in Columbia County) January 26, 1774 by John Van Rensselaer, Governor of New Yorik." Although Van Rensselaer was not governor at that time, causing some question on the statement, Dr. William F. Vincent of Groton, CT recalls having seen the deed as a youth. Ambrose Vincent apparently had loyalist sympathies during the revolutionary war; a warrant for his apprehension was made by the Board of Commissioners for Conspiracies. However, the outcome of the hearings is not known; he remained a resident of Hillsdale. Ambrose Vincent's brother, Michael Vincent, named him in his will on 15 June 1801 and left him 20 pounds. In a section "To all my Brothers and Sisters Children; He named the following as Ambrose Vinent's children, "To Michael Vincent, Stephen Vincent, Levi Vincent, Adrian Vincent, Wilkinson Vincent, Gilbert Vincent, Nancy, the wife of John McCarty and MArtha, the wife of Leonard Vincent, which are the heirs of Ambrose Vincent." (Note the name Adrian Vincent is an error in the transcription to the will book--in Ambrose Vincent's will, he clearly names his son Addi, as it is found in numerouis other records). On 25 April 1808 in the 1st Codicil of Michael Vincent's will, "I bequeath all of my wearing apparel to my Brother Ambrose Vincent and his sons, MIchael and Stephen to be equally divided between them." (Note, Michael Vincent died in 1803 and it is unclear why he would have been mentioned other than to assume that we are in error in placing the Michael Vincent's death or it was Michael Vincent's intent that the clothing be given to the heirs of his nephew, Michael Vincent.) Ambrose Vincent of the Town of Hilsdale wrote his will (Columbia County Will Book C, page 311) on 26 October 1809, "being of sound and perfect memory." He bequeathed $500 to his wife Doratha in lieu of her dower and the remainder of his estate equally among all of his children.

Sson Addi Vincent, living in Lower Canada (became Quebec)
daughter Doratha Stevens, deceased, her heirs were Nancy Stevens, Hannah Stevens, and Reuben Stevens.
son Wilkinson Vincent, deceased, his heirs were Ambrose Vincent, Philip Vincent, Nancy Vincent, Rachel Vincent and Stephen Vincent.
He appointed Doctor Daniel Morris and his sons, Stephen and Levi Vincent, executors. The witnesses for the will were David Knapp, Joseph Shaw, and Joseph G. Morey. On 7 September 1809, David Knapp made a sworn statement before the Surrogate Judge Martin VanBuren that he witnessed the signature. On the same day, Levi Vincent and Stephen Vincent appeared before Judge VanBuren to take an oath as executors. Interestingly, Judge VanBuren went on to become the eighth President of the United Sattes in 1837."
In "The Vincent Family Supplement, 1974," Buck writes:
"Mrs. John B. Owen (Phyllis) of Peace River, Alberta, Canada, has made an extensive research on the family of Ambrose Vincent, particularly the onese that settled in Canada. She has placed a copy of same with the Vincent family historian and another copy with the Adriance Memorial Library, Poughkeepsie, New York.
