About Amelia Jarvis

United Empire Loyalist. Inscription: Sacred to the Memory COLONEL STEPHEN JARVIS U.E.L. A Distinguished Officer in the American Revolutionary War 1776 and Quartermaster 17 Light Dragoons Adjutant General of the Forces in Upper Canada 1812 Gentleman Usher of The Black Rod Parliament of Canada Died April 12th 1840 Aged 84 Years ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Also of AMELIA GLOVER his Wife Died Dec. 2nd 1819 Aged 63 Years

The tablet was erected at the close of the Great War 1914 – 1919 In grateful recognition of the spirit of ardent patriotism bequeathed by Col. Jarvis. Two score of his descendants volunteered for active service in this War, and many others have served the Empire on former occasions at the call of Duty.

The mortal remains are interred at the eastern boundary of the cemetery adjoining this Cathedral Church.
