About Amsih Murad Kanunu
Mentioned as the brother of Hanna Murad Hannouch, and son of Murad Kanûn by Fuad Zadike.
In the 1870 Census by Abdulla Sattuf of the villages in Tur Abdin, a man by the name of "Amsih Murad Kanûno" (ܥܡܣܝܚ ܡܪܐܕ ܟܐܢܘܢܘ) is mentioned as living in Azekh. It is highly probable that it is him, since his brother and father lived here. The difference in surnames (Kanûn and Kanûno) can simply be because of a language difference (Arabic and Syriac), as the suffix "-o" refers to a noun being masculine in Syriac.
The surname "Kanûn" means stove in Arabic. Many nouns in Arabic and Syriac are only differentiated by the suffix "-o". However, traditionally it is written with an aleph (ܐ) and not with a waw (ܘ).
(حنّوش (لقب مراد كانون الآزخي والد حنا وعمسيح) لقب به لقصر قامته.)
