About Amy Jo Brown
Amy Jo Brown, age 82, of Madison, formerly of Muscoda, died on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, with her family at her bedside at Riverdale Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, in Muscoda. She was born on Oct. 22, 1921, to Edward and Ora (Warner) Nee in Aubrey Corners, Richland County. Amy graduated valedictorian of Ithaca High School in 1939. She married John R. Brown on July 19, 1939, in Dubuque, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1975. John and Amy owned the Muscoda Hotel & Bar for many years. Amy also volunteered for many local organizations. Amy entered college in 1976, attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She was a cum laude graduate in 1979, receiving a bachelor of art degree. She was employed by Unified Counseling, retiring in 1989. Survivors include six children, Jean (Bob) Hatfield of Beaver Dam, Kathleen (Richard) Rowley of Portage, Barbara (Teto Owen) Gardner of Massachusetts, Michael (Tina) Brown of Janesville, Dennis (Suzanne) Brown of Muscoda, and Elizabeth (Pete) Edstrom of Menomonie; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Eugene Brown of Madison, Bob Geller of Middleton, and Urbie Bram of Middleton; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Amy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; beloved granddaughter, Lisa; sisters and brother-in-law, Catherine, Mary, Betty and Dorothy (Ervin) Heuer, all who are welcoming her arrival into heaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH in Muscoda. Father Roger Taylor will officiate with burial in St. Malachy's Cemetery near Clyde. Friends may call on Saturday at church from 9 a.m. until the time of services. The Godager Funeral Home of Muscoda is assisting the family with arrangements. Blessed is she who is called Mama, Grandma and Great-grandma Amy by many. You taught us to love.
