Includes NotesMarriage Notes for Ana Lugo y Sotomayor and Antonio Ramírez de Arellano Figueroa: Book: Familias de Cabo Rojo
-Dr. Acosta states that Brau listed these as the children of Antonio & Ana.
Eugenio- Married to María del Rosario martínez de Matos
Germán- Married to Teresa Pabón Dávila
Esteban- María del Toro y Quiñones
Juan- Married to Ana Martínez de Matos y Espinosa
Sebastián- Married to Juana de Mirabal
Pedro- Married to Margarita Benavides
Petronilla- Married to José Ramos Colón
Andrés- Married to Juana de Rivera
Juana- Married to Baltazar Sepúlveda
And possibly... Laurencio- Married to Antonia Martínez de Matos
-Dr. Acosta makes a point that Petronila cannot be the sister of Remigiuo, but a cousin.
In the marriage of Valentín Ramírez de Arellano with María Belén Ramírez de Arellano in 1819 in Cabo Rojo, she concludes that the Great-Grandmother of Valentín, Petronila, & the Great- Grandfather of Marís Belén, Eugenio...were brothers. It indicates that Petronila was first cousin to the son of Eugenio (2º with 3º grados de Consanguinidad)- Petronila being the niece of Eugenio.
-Another piece evidence she found that proved Petronila is not a sister, but a niece to Remigio, is that if Petronila is a niece of both Remigio and Eugenio- they they must be brothers.
She believes there may have been a mistake in the redording of the Consanguinity in the marriage of 1819, having to do with the Great Grandparents of the bride and groom.
-She concludes that Antonio has the following children:
Remigio, Juan, Eugenio, Esteban, Juana, Laurencio
and possibly these...
-Baltazar, Sebastián, Pedro, Andrés
Also that Germán was a first cousin, and Petronila is the niece of Remigio & Eugenio & not a sister.

Hello Theresa. Ana de Lugo Sotomayor (wife of Diego Montañez de Sierra) was the daughter of Captain Don Juan de Lugo Sotomayor (bc 1590, San Juan) and Doña Luisa Velásquez (bc. 1592, San Juan). Don Juan de Lugo Sotomayor was the son of Don Pedro Mexia de Lugo (bc. 1565, San Juan) and Doña Isabel de Sotomayor y Pérez del Rincón (bc. 1570, San Juan). The possible conection here would be Doá Isabel de Sotomayor, but she inherited her surname Sotomayor from an ancestor (possible a grandmother or great grandmother) because her parents were Don Herán Pérez de Valenzuela and Doña María del Rincón. Sometimes daughters would inherit surnames from female ancestors as an act of respect and honor. Don Hernán's parents were Don Alonso de Lepe and Doña Catalina Perez. Don Hernán and his parents were from Almonte, Andalucía, Spain. The Sotomayors are one family and descend from Men Paes de Sorred who was granted the Lordship over the valley of Souto in Pontenvedra, Galicia in the 1100s by King Alfonso VI and named it Souto Maior (Great Grove). All the Sotomayors descend from this man, but many have inherited the lastname through female lines, like the case of Isable illustrate. I hope this helps. Merry Christmas!"
Here is the profile, he was looking at, too, when he formulated this. One of my 6th great grandfathers. ~Theresa Renée Delgado-Tossas
