Ana married her maternal uncle, Antonio Sousa Freitas on November 16, 1954. In 1955 she came to the United States and settled in Redlands, CA with her husband. She became a US citizen in 1962. In 1963, Ana successfully petitioned for her siblings (Jose, Maria Conceicao, Antonia, and Emilia) to gain entry into the United States.
