André Beauregard

Ancestor of America Beauregard

In late August 1665, the vessels "Golden Eagle" and "Peace" arrived in Quebec with, on board, a company of the Carignan-Salières. André Jarret, Sieur de Beauregard, is the lieutenant. His father's name was John and his mother's name Perrette Sermette.

Upon demobilization, he decided to remain in the colony. Thus, January 12, 1676, he married Marguerite Anthiaume in Montreal, daughter of Michel and Marie Dubois. They had seven children. August 17, 1674, Governor Frontenac granted him three small islands located at the end of the lordship of Vercheres.

André Beauregard had died in tragic circumstances in 1691. He was killed by Iroquois and it is not found his remains.

"Born in Rual Chapeaucornu of a street near the castle Chapeaucornu, near Vignieu (Isère, France) (south region of France between Lyon and Grenoble). The town of Vignieu, near St Chef (Isère, France), was under Dominance of Cornu Hat lord who had his castle just kilometers west of the village. A little to the east of the castle is a road, called Rual Hat Horned, forming the locality from which party ancestor, Andrew Jarret. His family has at Rual since at least 1471, had many lands including a wood on a hill. I located northwest of the castle. This wood Beauregard, located near the Andrevet Field Earth appears as the family about 1556, but it is likely that the name was used before, and the Jarret family who gave him that name.

As there are other places called Beauregard in the region, it is another possible that this name was taken, but it remains a hypothesis. "
