Farmer shot in attack dies Cape Argus29 Jul 2014 FREE State farmer Andre van Greunen, 47, who was attacked and shot on his farm Danielsrus, near Reitz on July 6, has died in hospital, the Free State police said yesterday.
“Mr Andre van Greunen passed away on Friday, July 25, in the Dihlabeng Hospital,” said Sergeant Mmako Mophiring.
He said the police had arrested a second man in connection with the farm attack in Petsana. He was expected to appear in the Reitz Magistrate’s Court on August 5 to face charges of armed robbery and murder. They are looking for one more man.
The gang shot at the farmer in the attack and he returned fire.
Van Greunen was wounded in the stomach and right elbow. He managed to shoot one of the attackers in the upper thigh. – Sapa
