Andrew Alexander was the son of William Alexander and Agnes Ann Reid. He became the spouse of Ann Dandridge Aylett, on 17 May 1803 in Rockbridge Co., VA. She was the daughter of William Aylett and Mary Macon.

Departed this life on Tuesday morning last, at his residence near this place. ANDREW ALEXANDER, esq., one of our oldest and most respectable citizens. In all the relations of life he was kind, gentle and affectionate, and commanded as large a share of public respect and confidence as any amongst us. As a father, brother, husband, and citizen, his duties were faithfully and promptly discharged, and so perfectly unexceptionable has been his conduct through life that, we doubt, whether he has left an enemy behind him. For several years he represented ther County in the House of Delegates, and gave very general satisfation. His legislative career was marked by sound judgment. and an unfaltering devotion to the interests of his State, and his constituents. He served also for many years in the capacity of County Surveyor. His remains were attended to their resting place in the Presbyterian burying grund by a numerous train of relatives and friends,, with who we symyathize (sic) deeply, on account of the afflicting bereavment which they are called upon to sustain. -- Lexington Star Feb. 8. His obit was in the Staunton Spectator, and General Advertiser dated 15 Feb 1844.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Aug 21 2022, 0:38:28 UTC
