A saddler and harness maker by trade, Andrew Dietz held multiple patents for various aspects of the leatherworking trade. On October 14, 1836, while residing in Albany, NY, he was granted U.S. Patent No. 52.Journal of the American Institute, Volume 2, by T. B. Wakeman (1937), page 102.
Unfortunatelly, the original patent has been lost.
A decade later, while residing in New York, NY, he also received a patent on April 2, 1850, for an improvement in harnesses and hames and another patent on April 9, 1850 for rings for harnesses (Annuel Report of the Commissioner of Patents (1851), page 54).
