About Andrew M. Dragoo, Sr.

Husband of Mary Jane "Polly" (Hardesty) Dragoo (1791-1832). They were married on June 23, 1802. Mary and Andrew had at least eight children including: Ephraim, Elizabeth, Belteshazzar "Billy," Nancy, Andrew, Mary, Martha and Ebminda Dragoo. Andrew's second wife was Elizabeth (Parker) Dragoo (1809-1881). They were married on Feburary 13, 1834 in Clinton County, Ohio. Elizabeth was the mother of seven children with Andrew including: Abigail, Ann, George, Daniel, Rauzilla "Rosella", William Jasper and Hugh Greer Dragoo. Andrew was the son of Belteshazzer Dragoo and Martha Hannah (Butler) Dragoo. Andrew's mother-in-law, Ruth (Bell/Beall) Hardesty, was a descendant directly or indirectly of Col. Ninian Beall who came from Scotland to Maryland in the 1600's.

Please note: There is some incorrect information that has been on some family trees that links Andrew's daughter, Rauzilla (aka "Rosella"), to Virgil W. Earp. Unfortunately, that is not the same Rauzilla. Andrew's daughter, Rauzilla, who was born in 1845 in Clinton County, Ohio married James Riley Jones on September 8, 1864 in Delaware County, Indiana at the age of 19. She had four children with James - William G. born 1867, Otto E. born 1869, Martha E., born 1872 and Elizabeth J. born 1873. Rauzilla died in either Randolph County, Indiana or Blackford County on September 30, 1888. Rauzilla was never married to any one other than James Jones. The first wife of Virgil Earp was actually born about 1855 in France. There are also several documents to prove that Andrew Dragoo's daughter, Rauzilla (Rosella), was married to James Jones and was the mother of the Jones children. They are all together on the census in 1880 and marriage and death certificates for the children confirm the names of their mother - Rosella/Rauzilla (Dragoo) Jones.
