Children Mary Friend Turner

Israel F Friend 1693–1753

Charles Friend 1700–1756

In September, 1686 Nils Lawson (Nicholas Friend) was named Constable of Chester Township, but in early December, 1686 he became gravely ill and his son Andrew took over as Constable on December 3, 1686.

Anders (Andrew) was to become the progenitor of the Ivydale, Clay Co., West Virginia "Friend" line and Anders' son Israel was named ambassador to the Indians by the governor of Maryland in 1725.

Their second son, Johannes (John) was to be the progenitor of the Garrett Co. (formerly Allegany Co.) Maryland "Friend" line.

Johannes' grandson John Lewis Friend Sr. was the first white settler to the Garrett Co. area in 1765. The land he purchased from local Indians eventually became the town of Friendsville.

On 28 November 1732, Andrew Friend, age 75 years, came before the Court of Prince George’s County, Maryland. He told them he had no servants and no slaves and requested that he be made “levy free”. His request was granted (Prince George’s County Court Records, Book 9, Liber 5, page 112. Colonial Records of the Upper Potomac, William H. Rice, 2010.

Andrew Friend's first wife (name unknown was the daughter of Peter Gunnarsson Rambo, not Israel Friend. This is shown by a 1740 affidavit by John Rambo, who visited is "brother" [brother-in-law] Anders Friend in western Maryland. In a letter written to his sister in Gothenburg on 30 May 1693, Peter Rambo had mentioned three daughters who were then married with children. In his 1694 will, however, only two of these three daughters were still living. The daughter who had died must have been Andrew's first wife in order that the indicated relationship between Andrew Friend and John Rambo to be true.

Andrew's second wife's name was Isabela Helm.
