a "McIlvaine Family History" was published by a James L. McIlvaine from Falls Church, Virginia. I don't know how accurate it is, but most of the dates and info I have researched is correct. He writes:

"Andrew McIlvaine came from Aughnacloy, Ireland to America on or about 1719. His father was Alexander Muckelvane of Ayr, Scotland. In the mother country, he had been a clothier. He settled at Cool Spring, Delaware, where, together with Robert Mickey (McKee)who had come over with him, bought a tract of land , 550 acres, from John Russel. (1)
