On 18 June 1624, at a court held at St. Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall, Orkney, the twenty merk udal land of Wester Hougoland, the fifteen merk udal lands of Stenhous with the Holme thereof, together with the fifteen merk udal land of Ollaberrie, all of which are located in the Shetland parish of Northmaven, were apprised from Andrew Mowat, eldest lawful son and heir of the deceased John Mowat of Howgoland at the instance of David Hereot, for not entering as heir to his father.
