A source on the internet shows that John Mowat (d. 1617) of Ollaberry was married by 1597 to "Christian Stewart, natural daughter of Robert, Earl of Orkney," and had a daughter "Jean, married David Heart, sheriff-clerk of Orkney and Shetland." Is the sheriff-clerk the same person as the "writer" and notary public?
